Factoring by Grouping — Easy Worksheet 2
Grade 9 · MathSheets Name: ____________________ Date: __________
Factor completely. Write the answer as a product of two binomials, like (x^2 + 3)(x - 5).
How to solve
Group the first two terms and the last two terms. Factor the GCF out of each group so that both groups share the same binomial, then factor that common binomial out: x3 + 2x2 + 3x + 6 = x2(x + 2) + 3(x + 2) = (x2 + 3)(x + 2).
Example
Factor: 3x(x - 5) - (x - 5)
Answer: (3x - 1)(x - 5)
