Divide monomials where the bottom has the bigger exponent, so the answer keeps that letter on the bottom with a positive exponent: (x^3) / (x^7) = 1/(x^4) first, then numbers and two or three letters, like (4x^2 y) / (6x^5 y^3) = 2/(3x^3 y^2).
