💡 How to solve: Repeating Decimals to Fractions
Let x equal the decimal. Multiply by 10, 100 or 1000 so the repeating part lines up (one repeating digit: 10x, two digits: 100x), subtract x to remove the repeating part, then solve and simplify. For 0.2727…: 100x - x = 27, so 99x = 27 and x = 2799 = 311.

💡 How to solve: Estimating Square Roots
Find the perfect squares on either side of the number. 49 < 50 < 64, so √49 < √50 < √64, which means √50 is between 7 and 8. It is closest to 7, because 50 is much nearer to 49 than to 64. To get the nearest tenth, square decimals: 7.0 × 7.0 = 49 and 7.1 × 7.1 = 50.41, so √50 is between 7.0 and 7.1. Check the halfway point: 7.05 × 7.05 = 49.7025 is less than 50, so √50 rounds up to 7.1.

💡 How to solve: Lines of Best Fit & Predictions
A line of best fit y = mx + b follows the trend of the data. To predict, substitute the x-value into the equation. The slope m is the predicted change in y for each 1 unit increase in x, and the y-intercept b is the predicted value when x = 0. To write the equation, pick two points on the line, find the slope, then find b.

💡 How to solve: Two-Way Tables & Relative Frequency
Each cell counts the people in one row category and one column category; the totals add across rows and down columns. A relative frequency is a count divided by a total: divide by the row total to compare within a row, by the column total within a column, or by the grand total for the whole survey.

💡 How to solve: Comparing & Estimating with Scientific Notation
Compare the powers of 10 first — the larger exponent is the larger number; if the exponents match, compare the decimal parts. To find how many times as large, divide the decimal parts and subtract the exponents: (6 × 108) ÷ (2 × 105) = 3 × 103 = 3000.

💡 How to solve: Function Graphs: Increasing & Decreasing
Read a graph from left to right. Where the line goes up, the function is increasing; where it goes down, it is decreasing; where it is flat, it is constant. The output for an input is the height of the graph above that x-value. Rate of change on a piece = change in output ÷ change in input.

💡 How to solve: Writing Numbers in Scientific Notation
Move the decimal point so exactly one nonzero digit is in front of it, then count the moves. That count is the power of 10: positive for a big number, negative for a number less than 1. 45,000 = 4.5 × 104 (4 moves left), 0.00052 = 5.2 × 10-4 (4 moves right).

💡 How to solve: Exponents & Scientific Notation (Mixed Review)
When multiplying powers with the same base, add the exponents: am × an = am+n. To write a number in scientific notation, write it as a number from 1 to 9 times a power of 10, where the exponent is the number of places the decimal point moves, for example 600 = 6 × 102.

💡 How to solve: Converting Scientific Notation to Standard Form
The power of 10 tells you how far to move the decimal point. A positive power moves it right (making the number bigger): 4.5 × 104 = 45,000. A negative power moves it left (making the number smaller): 5.2 × 10-4 = 0.00052. Fill empty places with zeros.

💡 How to solve: Volume: Changing Radius & Height
Volume is proportional to height: double the height and the volume doubles. The radius is squared, so if the radius triples the volume becomes 3 × 3 = 9 times as large. A cone holds one third of a cylinder with the same radius and height. To find a missing height, divide the volume by πr².

💡 How to solve: Linear & Nonlinear Functions
A linear function has a constant rate of change: its graph is a straight line and its equation can be written as y = mx + b. In a table, check that y changes by the same amount every time x changes by the same amount. Squares, cubes, x in a denominator or x in an exponent make a function nonlinear.

💡 How to solve: Translations on the Coordinate Plane
A translation slides every point of a figure the same distance in the same direction. Moving right adds to x and moving left subtracts; moving up adds to y and moving down subtracts. So "4 units left and 3 units up" is the rule (x, y) → (x − 4, y + 3), and A(2, 1) moves to A′(−2, 4). The image has the same size, shape and orientation as the original figure.

💡 How to solve: Operations with Scientific Notation (Mixed Review)
To multiply, multiply the decimal parts and add the exponents; to divide, divide the decimal parts and subtract the exponents. To add or subtract, first rewrite so both powers of 10 match. Finally adjust so the decimal part is at least 1 and less than 10: 12.8 × 105 = 1.28 × 106.
